Product Overview

The Penjamin “Lip Balm” by Smyle Labs is a compact, draw-activated 510-thread cartridge battery designed to resemble a standard lip balm tube. The set includes a rechargeable battery unit and a separate storage tube for holding a compatible cartridge when it is not in use.

The device does not use a power button or manual voltage controls. Once a compatible cartridge is installed and the airflow inlet is open, the battery activates automatically when you inhale through the cartridge mouthpiece.

The rechargeable battery unit contains:

  • A 510-thread connection at the top
  • A USB-C charging port on the bottom
  • A removable rubber charging-port cover
  • A bottom airflow inlet near the USB-C port
  • An internal 400 mAh rechargeable battery

Storage Tube Lip Balm

The second tube stores a cartridge when it is not connected to the battery. Included spacers and different cap heights help reduce cartridge movement and accommodate different cartridge lengths.

The storage tube is designed to fit cartridges up to approximately 1 gram in size.

Charging the Battery

  1. Turn the battery upside down.
  2. Remove the white rubber cover from the bottom of the device.
  3. Connect a compatible USB-C cable to the charging port.
  4. Connect the cable to a suitable USB power source.
  5. The indicator light remains blue while the battery is charging.
  6. The indicator light turns off when charging is complete.
  7. Disconnect the cable and reinstall the rubber cover before storing the device.
Charging warning: Do not use the battery while it is charging. Avoid high-output fast chargers unless they are specifically approved by the manufacturer.

Cartridge Assembly and Disassembly

Installing a Cartridge

  1. Hold the battery upright and twist off the white top cap.
  2. Inspect the 510-thread connection and make sure it is clean and dry.
  3. Place a compatible 510-thread cartridge onto the battery.
  4. Turn the cartridge clockwise until it is secure.
  5. Stop tightening as soon as the cartridge makes proper contact.

Removing a Cartridge

  1. Hold the battery securely.
  2. Turn the cartridge counterclockwise.
  3. Lift the cartridge gently away from the 510 connection.
  4. Reinstall the white battery cap or place the cartridge inside the storage tube.
Do not overtighten: Excessive force can damage the cartridge threads, battery connection or center contact.

How to Vape

Important first step: Before taking a draw, remove the rubber USB-port cover from the bottom of the battery. The device’s air inlet is located in the same bottom area near the USB-C charging port. Leaving the rubber cover installed may restrict airflow and prevent the draw-activated battery from working correctly.

Draw-Activated Operation

  1. Remove the bottom USB-port rubber cover to expose the airflow inlet.
  2. Make sure the cartridge is properly installed on the 510-thread connection.
  3. Place the cartridge mouthpiece between your lips.
  4. Inhale gently and steadily. The battery activates automatically while you draw.
  5. Stop inhaling to end activation.
  6. After the session, reinstall the rubber cover to protect the USB-C port from dust and debris.
No button presses are required. Start with short, gentle draws. Pulling too hard may contribute to airflow problems, cartridge flooding or oil entering the mouthpiece.

Storing a Cartridge

  1. Unscrew the cartridge from the battery.
  2. Place the cartridge upright inside the storage Lip Balm tube.
  3. For a shorter cartridge, insert one of the included spacers to reduce movement and rattling.
  4. Select the short or tall cap according to the cartridge height.
  5. Twist the cap securely onto the storage tube.
Do not force a cartridge into the storage tube. Make sure the cartridge fits comfortably and that the cap closes without pressing heavily against the mouthpiece.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning the 510 Connection

  1. Remove the cartridge.
  2. Make sure the battery is disconnected from the charger.
  3. Wipe the 510-thread connection with a dry cotton swab.
  4. For stubborn residue, lightly dampen the swab with isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Allow the connection to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridge.

Cleaning the Air Inlet

  • Remove the rubber cover and inspect the bottom area regularly.
  • Use a dry, soft brush or cotton swab to remove dust.
  • Do not insert metal objects into the airflow opening.
  • Do not allow liquid to enter the USB-C charging port.
  • Do not block the airflow area while inhaling.
Never pour cleaning liquid directly into the battery.

Troubleshooting

Battery Does Not Activate

  • Remove the bottom USB-port rubber cover.
  • Confirm that the airflow inlet is open.
  • Make sure the battery is charged.
  • Check that the cartridge is not overtightened.
  • Clean the battery and cartridge contact points.
  • Test with another compatible 510-thread cartridge.

Weak Vapor

  • Recharge the battery.
  • Take a slow, steady draw.
  • Confirm that the bottom airflow inlet is uncovered.
  • Check the cartridge for clogs.
  • Allow a cold cartridge to warm to room temperature.

Cartridge Does Not Fit

  • Confirm that it uses a standard 510-thread connection.
  • Inspect the cartridge threads for damage.
  • Do not cross-thread or force the cartridge.
  • Wider cartridges may not fit inside the storage tube.

Battery Will Not Charge

  • Make sure the rubber port cover is fully removed.
  • Confirm that the USB-C cable is fully connected.
  • Try another compatible cable and power source.
  • Inspect the charging port for dust or residue.
