1. Product Overview
The Smyle Labs Penjamin Cart Pen combines a rechargeable 510-thread cartridge battery with the appearance and function of a standard writing pen. The cartridge installs inside the body of the pen, helping keep it protected and less visible during storage and transport.

3. Penjamin Parts and Controls
Removable Mouth Tip
The soft mouth tip fits over the top of the pen and may remain attached during normal use. Remove it when cleaning or accessing the cartridge cover.
Removable Top Piece
The upper sleeve conceals the cartridge. Twist and pull this section away from the main pen body to access the 510 connection.
Pen Clip and Fire Button
The activation button is located beneath the pen clip. Pressing the clip pushes the button below it. The clip is used to turn the battery on or off, change voltage, activate preheat, and fire the device.
510 Cartridge Connection
The threaded connection inside the pen accepts compatible 510-thread cartridges. A metal adapter is included for certain smaller cartridge designs.
Micro-USB Charging Port
The charging port is located on the main body near or beneath the clip area. Use the included Micro-USB cable to recharge the battery.
Writing Tip
The pointed end of the Penjamin contains a functional ballpoint pen. Twist the lower pen section to extend or retract the writing tip.
4. Charging the Battery
- Locate the Micro-USB charging port on the Penjamin body.
- Insert the Micro-USB end of the included cable into the charging port.
- Connect the USB end to a standard low-power USB charging source.
- Allow the battery to charge on a clean, dry, heat-resistant surface.
- Disconnect the charging cable after charging is complete.
For battery safety, use a standard USB charging source rather than an incompatible high-output charger. Keep the charging port clean and free of cartridge oil, dust, and moisture.
5. Installing a 510 Cartridge
- Turn the device off. Press the clip five times rapidly before installing or removing a cartridge.
- Remove the mouth tip if necessary. Gently pull it away from the top of the pen.
- Remove the top piece. Twist and pull the cartridge-covering sleeve away from the main pen body.
- Inspect the cartridge. Confirm that the cartridge has a compatible 510-thread base and is not leaking or damaged.
- Attach the cartridge. Thread the cartridge clockwise into the Penjamin battery connection.
- Do not overtighten. Stop when the cartridge is secure. Excessive tightening may damage the cartridge or battery connection.
- Use the adapter only when needed. Certain shorter or smaller cartridges may require the included metal adapter. Most standard cartridges will not need it.
- Reinstall the top piece. Slide or press the cover back over the cartridge.
- Align the clip correctly. Make sure the pen clip sits over the fire button so pressing the clip activates the button beneath it.
- Reattach the mouth tip. Press the mouth tip securely into place.
6. Turning the Device On and Off
The Penjamin uses a standard five-click safety function.
- Locate the activation button beneath the pen clip.
- Press the clip rapidly five times.
- The indicator light should respond to confirm that the device has been turned on or off.
Turn the device off before placing it in a pocket, bag, purse, drawer, or storage case. This helps prevent accidental activation.
7. Voltage Settings
The Penjamin includes three voltage modes. With the device turned on, press the clip three times rapidly to cycle through the available settings.
| Indicator Color | Voltage | Suggested Use |
|---|---|---|
| Green | 2.7V | Lower heat and gentler vapor production |
| Blue | 3.1V | Balanced everyday setting |
| Red | 3.6V | Higher heat and stronger vapor production |
Begin with the lowest setting and increase only when needed. Higher voltage may produce warmer and larger vapor, but it may also use cartridge oil more quickly and can create a burnt taste with sensitive cartridges.
8. Using Preheat Mode
Preheat mode briefly warms the cartridge before use. This may help when the oil is thick, the cartridge has been stored in a cool environment, or airflow feels restricted.
- Turn the Penjamin on.
- Press the clip two times rapidly.
- Allow the preheat cycle to operate.
- Press the clip again if you need to stop the cycle early.
Use preheat only when necessary. Repeated or excessive heating may thin the oil, increase the chance of leaking, or overheat the cartridge.
9. How to Use the Penjamin
- Confirm that the cartridge is installed correctly.
- Make sure the device is turned on.
- Select the desired voltage by pressing the clip three times.
- Place the removable mouth tip gently between your lips.
- Press and hold the pen clip to activate the cartridge.
- Inhale slowly and gently while continuing to hold the clip.
- Release the clip to stop heating.
Avoid extremely hard or aggressive inhalation. A slow, steady draw generally provides better airflow and may help reduce clogging or oil entering the cartridge airway.
10. Using the Writing Pen
The Penjamin is also a functional ballpoint pen.
- Hold the lower section near the writing end.
- Twist the writing tip until the ballpoint extends.
- Use the Penjamin as a regular writing pen.
- Twist in the opposite direction to retract the ballpoint after use.
Keep the ballpoint retracted when the pen is not being used. This helps prevent the ink from drying out and keeps the tip from marking clothing, bags, or other surfaces.
11. Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning the Cartridge Connection
- Turn the Penjamin off.
- Remove the top piece and cartridge.
- Inspect the threaded connection for oil or residue.
- Gently wipe the connection with a dry cotton swab.
- For stubborn residue, use a cotton swab very lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
- Allow the area to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridge.
Cleaning the Mouth Tip
Remove the mouth tip and wipe it with a clean, lightly dampened cloth. Dry it completely before placing it back on the device.
General Care
- Keep the device dry.
- Do not immerse the Penjamin in water or cleaning solution.
- Do not allow oil to collect inside the cartridge chamber.
- Remove leaking cartridges immediately.
- Do not use sharp tools on the battery connection.
