The best vape pens are on VapeBatt

A vape pen is a 510 thread battery in the general shape, size, and dimensions of a regular pen. While in recent years vape pens have diversified in shape and size, they have 2 types of functional categories, auto-draw or push button.  Auto-draw vape pens, also sometimes know as buttonless vape pens, use inhale activation to vaporize concentrates.  Push button vape pens are activated by pressing a button once or multiple times to change settings.  Some brands are now developing vape pens that have dual-function in order to combine the convenience auto-draw with the features previously only available with push button vape pens.

Vape pens are great for vaping oil

The first function of any vape pen is its ability to easily and effectively vaporize oil concentrates. Vape pens that have variable voltage that go above 3.2V typically have the capability to also vaporize wax. Many people use vape pens because of their size and portability.  They have increased in popularity as the average retail price point has come down and technologies have increased to provide greater features not previously available with vape pens.

    Vape Pens for Weed Oil

Most vapes on the market (including vaporizers for cannabis oil) are using universal 510 thread internal screw connectors. Sometimes referred to as a “male connection”. 510 thread batteries are very popular among users for a variety of reasons. Within pen-style vapes, there are variances such as push-button and buttonless vapes. Push Button units have an array of options from simple push to vape function to variable voltage output settings and pre-heat. Newer to the market, twist vape batteries with the knob at the bottom to dial the desired voltage. Some 510 vaporizers also have a pre-heat function, very useful when vaping thick cannabis oil or concentrate. The pre-heat function is used to initially ‘break’ and melt the solid-like concentrates and oils without burning them.

    Choosing Vape Pen for Oil

The most convenient type of vape pen for oil is an auto-draw buttonless pen. There are few requirements for this type of pen but overall usage is as simple as it gets – simply inhale.

The classic button operating vape pen for oil will be chosen by people who are looking for bigger and more intense clouds from their vape.

Things to keep in mind for buttonless vaporizers are making sure the sensors are kept clean. Since vape oil is very thin it is easy to spill during the refill of your vape cartridge. Sometimes your cart or mouthpiece will leak when vaping, and once oil dries out covering your connector it can cause your vape pen to malfunction.

The second important thing to remember with buttonless vape pens is that the 510 thread vape cartridge needs to have an airflow hole at the bottom of the cartridge. Auto-draw vapor batteries are activated by a bottom airflow from your inhalation. So, when you pick a vape cart make sure it operates with a bottom airflow hole. Slim style auto-draw vape pens are more simplistic in their design. and are garnering more attention in terms of finding ways to add features.

Standard 510 vape pens used for oil are widely used due to their compatibility across all devices and bigger power capacity. In general, you should be able to pick any 510 thread vape pen battery and match it with the vape cart of your choice.

Push button vape pen operations are more or less standard across the industry to avoid confusion and improve ease-of-use.  To turn the battery on or off the user needs to click the power button five (5) times quickly and consistently. They also usually have an auto cut-off safety feature that will stop a vape session. This could be anywhere from 8 to fifteen 15 seconds depending on the safety standards set by the brand who manufactured the vape pen. Some of these batteries also have an auto-off feature that will automatically turn the battery off if it is not used for more than a set amount of time.

    Voltage & Resistance Factor

Eliminating resistance usually means you will take bigger drags, bigger drags tend to result in bigger clouds, and for some big clouds are important. They also tend to produce a smoother hit and because there is no resistance; it feels almost as if the vapor is being pushed into your mouth. You also probably want to use push-button vapor batteries, particularly one with a pre-heat function if your oils or concentrates are thick because they will have the power to loosen them up and make for a more pleasurable vaping experience.

Vaporizers for 510 CartridgesVape Pen Cartridge Concealers

Box mod vape or concealers (as the oil carts are usually concealed within the unit body) are gaining huge popularity lately. While typical pen-style vapor batteries own a greater share of the market; the simplicity and realism behind concealable vape are quickly taking back market share as weed oil vape enthusiasts find them very portable, useful, and discrete. Box mod vape comes with buttonless (auto-draw) functionality or button operated. Buttonless vape mods have sensors that activate whenever you inhale on your vape cart. Because they are sensor activated, buttonless vape batteries do not usually have a pre-heat function and are intended more for e-liquid or thin CBD oil.

Box mod vape for 510 cartridges

The majority of the box mods come with basic push-button functionality. Simple and straight-forward use with many safety features. They usually have additional features, such as a pre-heat mode for thick oils and concentrates or variable voltage functionality which regulates the amount of output power. This is important especially with wax pen cartridge or medical cannabis oil carts, as this type of material requires very specific temperature and output power.

Box Mod Vaporizers Concealing Vape CartridgesAs people become more experienced with vaping and have a greater understanding of the nuances and benefits associated with it; they usually look to upgrade to variable voltage type vape batteries. Vape box mod kits give the vaper the ability to turn up or turn down the power. The features adopted by modern box vaporizers are constantly increasing, but the variable voltage is the most common feature found on almost all box mod vaporizers. Some of these vapes have a few temperatures presets that you simply ‘click-through’ to reach your desired vaping intensity while other mods allow you to set the specific number of watts or the exact temperature you want to achieve.

    Vape Pens FAQ

A vape pen is broad term for a battery that uses a 510 thread attachment to connect to a vape cart. When connected the battery will transfer energy to the vape cart thus vaporizing the concentrate in the cart. That vapor is then inhaled by the user. These types of vape pen batteries are mostly pen-shaped which is why they are called pens. However, in recent years vape pens have seen changes in shape and size for two reasons. The first is to prevent a vape pen from rolling off a table. Because of this, you can now find vape pens, that are flat, square, and triangular to prevent this from happening. The second reason is to include the best vape pen technology available. Auto-draw vape pens have seen the biggest increases for these reasons. They used to be able to only support an inhale-activated function but can no do everything a push-button vape pen can do (if the feature was added by the manufacturer).
Choosing a vape pen is highly user-dependent. But, it is not difficult. The main characteristics to consider when choosing a vape pen that you want to consider are: shape & size, functionality, and features. The size and shape of a vape pen can vary. They have thicker-sized vape pens with larger battery capacity and thin vape pens for greater portability. Then you need to consider the shape. There are traditional round, pen-shaped vape pens which is where they get their name from. Or, you can choose from square, triangular, rectangular or other shapes. The functionality is either auto-draw or push-button; however, newer models are coming with both options. And vape pen features, such as: pre-heat, variable voltage, digital screens, battery capacity, manufacturer warranty, and charging type.
Vape pens will vaporize oil. However, thick oil may need a vape pen that has the ability to preheat or increase the power setting through variable voltage. Vape pens that have a variable voltage setting that goes above 3.2V typically have the ability to also vaporize wax. However, these types of vape pen batteries are not designed to work with e-liquids, nic salts, or other nicotine-related concentrates.
The average vape pen should cost somewhere between $10 to $15 dollars without the cart. Vape pens on the cheaper end of the spectrum will usually be older or basic models while newer model vape pens or vape pens with more features will typically cost more. A select few vape pens will price -than-average; however, these are usually top-tier, top quality vape pens from the most reputable brands and have excellent manufacturer warranties and are typically worth their value.
Vape pen maintenance involves regular cleaning of the connection, avoiding overcharging the battery, storing it in a cool dry place, and replacing parts as needed to ensure optimal performance. Cleaning the connection area of your vape pen is done by dipping a Q-Tip in Isopropyl Alcohol and swabbing the area to remove any residue build-up that may have occurred during use. Please keep in mind that Isopropyl Alcohol is a highly flammable substance and while you are only using a small amount that evaporates relatively quickly; your vape pen should be given ample time to dry before attempting to use it. Additionally, when transporting your vape pen it should be done so with the vape cart disconnected from the vape pen to prevent possible damage or misfire.
